DIY Fruit Flavored Yogurt (Added Sugar Free!)

Yogurt is such a great snack, but many people aren’t used to its tart taste. Often opting for the flavored varieties abundant on grocery store shelves, people think they are indulging in a delicious, fruit-filled yogurt treat. Unfortunately, that’s not the case.

Flavored yogurts, whether fruit flavored or otherwise, most often contain heaping amounts of added sugars, not to mental artificial colors and flavors. In fact, you can be guzzling down an extra 15 grams of sugar just from one tiny little cup of yogurt – that’s about four extra teaspoons of sugar and over half of the daily recommended serving.

What’s more, many parents feed these flavored yogurt cups to their children. What this does is develop, from an early age, an affinity towards that artificial sweet taste. Eating a lot of artificially sweet foods leads them to crave more and more of the fake stuff, and less and less of the real stuff. It’s so important to start children young when it comes to food and help them to develop a taste for real, whole, fresh foods.

This DIY fruit flavored yogurt is the perfect snack for both yourself and the kiddos. It’s added-sugar free, it only calls for two ingredients, and is super simple to put together. It is the perfect balance between sweet and tart and will keep you away from those sugar-filled store-bought yogurts for good!

Try giving this to your kids for their snack next time and see how they like it.

This DIY Fruit Flavored yogurt is such a great snack for you or the kids. It's added sugar free, super easy to make, and it lets you sneak in a serving or fruit!

  1. Add the berries to a blender and blend until you get a puree consistency.
  2. Add in the yogurt and honey and blend until mixed together with the fruit. If you want fruit chunks in your yogurt, put some berries aside and fold them in after it's all blended together.
  3. Scoop out about 3/4 cup of the flavored yogurt into a bowl and top with any toppings you like!
  4. Store any leftovers in a airtight container or mason jar in the refrigerator.
Recipe Notes

If you like your yogurt sweeter, add less yogurt to the fruit puree (1.5 cups). If you like it more tart and a bit thicker add more yogurt (2 cups). You can also add more honey if it tastes too tart.
