I’m so happy to have you here and I hope you’ll stick around!

Let me give you a brief introduction to myself and this blog.

My Story

I fell in love with health and fitness after a personal struggle with body image and food.

After learning more about healthy eating, hiring a health coach, and going through my own personal transformation, I was inspired to continue learning and living a healthy lifestyle.

"I exercise because I love my body, not because I hate it."

But my story doesn’t end there…

In 2016 I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). PCOS is a common endocrine disorder affecting about 10-20% of women, and is the most common cause of female infertility.

Having struggled with absent periods, anxiety, mood swings, and intense sugar cravings, I kicked my health game up a notch. I’ve been able to greatly reduce my PCOS symptoms through hormone-balancing lifestyle changes, and I’m on a mission to help other women do the same. I want women to know that you CAN feel your very best.

Healthy for Allah

After having reverted to Islam, health was no longer just a physical act for me, it was emotional and spiritual as well. I realized the importance of taking care of my body for the sake of my Creator, and that inspired me to share my knowledge with other Muslim women.

The final messenger of God, Prophet Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) mounted the pulpit, then wept and said, “Ask Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) for forgiveness and health, for after being granted certainty, one is given nothing better than health.” [Al-Tirmidhi]

"Keeping your body healthy is an act of gratitude to your Creator." - Wellness Muslimah

Health and wellness holds a special place in my heart. To me it is about self-love. It is about confidence. It is prevention. It is medicine. It is worship. It is about gratitude, healing and self-acceptance. It is about tending to our whole selves – mind, body and soul.

Why Wellness Muslimah?

I started this blog as a means to inspire sisters in a halal way to take control of their health. The media is filled with pictures of unattainable bodies and fitness in our society is more focused on getting that ‘bikini body’ rather than focusing on inner health.

"You are more than a body." - Wellness Muslimah

I strive to use my knowledge of health and fitness to encourage and empower women and sisters everywhere to live more healthy and naturally through practical health tips, natural beauty, faith-based health solutions and much more.

“When someone is secure in his property, healthy in his body and has his food for the day, it is as if he owned the entire world.” [Al-Adab Al-Mufrad]

Health is one of the greatest blessings in Islam, and thus it is important for us to maintain it. Unfortunately, I think health information and advocacy in the Islamic world is very much lacking and it is my hope to bring awareness to it’s importance and status in Islam.

"Your body is an amanah from Allah. Take care of it." - Wellness Muslimah

Most of all, this blog is a sisterhood. This blog is meant as a means of inspiring, supporting, and connecting with one another. It is a place where we can come together, rely on each other, and learn in the process.

Let’s get healthy together for the sake of Allah, in shaa Allah!

I pray that this blog is a means of benefit for every woman who comes across it. I pray that through this content we can learn, connect, inspire, and encourage one another. I pray that Allah (سُبْحَانَهُ وَ تَعَالَى) puts barakat in this effort and allows it to reach Muslim women all around the world. May He grant us health, happiness and success both in this life and in the next. Ameen.
